The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office Reserves consists of Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified volunteers. Duties include assisting the Sheriff's Office with special events, staffing assistance for Patrol, special security assignments, transit system patrol, and any other duties needed by the agency.
Reserve Deputies are required to work 10 hours per month and obtain 40 hours of law enforcement training annually to maintain their certification. All assignments are volunteer time. Reserve Deputies are trained by full-time officers and are allowed to perform all law enforcement duties while under the supervision of the full-time officer.
Certifications & Equipment
Reserve Deputies are required to be certified by the Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training board prior to being appointed to the Reserve Corps as an officer. The Department provides:
- Coats
- Other Clothing Items
- Radios
- Traffic Vest
- Uniforms
The volunteers are required to provide their own leather gear, firearms, footwear, and hardware.
