Biography

With over twenty-eight years of experience in law enforcement, Paul Toth spent the early part of his career in the Detention Bureau, starting as a Deputy and working in just about every position in the jail up to and including Commander and Captain. During his time in the Detention Bureau Paul managed two major construction projects, the Detention Center Dormitory Expansion and the construction of the Dennis Maes Pueblo Judicial Building. Paul then changed bureaus and was assigned to the Law Enforcement bureau as the Patrol Captain where he was instrumental in the achievement of CALEA Accreditation for Law Enforcement. Paul spent many years on the Tactical Team in the jail and as Co-Commander of the SWAT Team.

At the end of 2017, Paul was reassigned to the position of Captain of the Emergency Services Bureau. Captain Toth oversaw the Communication Center, the Emergency Operations Center and the Office of Emergency Management, the Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program (CSEPP), and numerous volunteer programs such as the Pueblo County Emergency Team, consisting of Wildland Fire, Dive, and Search and Rescue units. For the last 15-months of his time in Emergency Services Paul was primarily focused on coordination and response to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Captain Toth was reassigned back to the Detention Bureau as the Operations Captain in June of 2021.  Resuming a role previously held, Paul oversees the inmate Classifications team, the inmate Property group, and the various contract services of the detention bureau, such as inmate Medical and inmate food services contracts.  Capt. Toth has also been assigned a position on the steering committee for the construction of the new detention facility and will help to oversee all phases from design through construction.  

Promotion to Bureau Chief

December 1st, 2021 Paul was promoted to Bureau Chief and has been assigned to the Detention Bureau.  


Paul is also a member of the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Patrol Unit and the the Range Master for the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office Firearms Training Unit

Volunteerism

In his spare time, Paul is the Director of Security and Law Enforcement at the Colorado State Fair and volunteers with several charity organizations.

Education & Training

Paul has completed two AA degrees in General Studies and Criminal Justice and is close to completing his Bachelor of Science in Political Science-Public Administration. Captain Toth is an Eagle Scout and a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy Session 256.
