Biography
Captain Dawn Ballas is a 17-year veteran of the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office. Capt. Ballas started her career as a Detention Deputy in 2002. Captain Ballas has served in multiple roles over her career such as a Detention Deputy, Detention Sergeant, Patrol Deputy, Patrol Training Officer (PTO), and Detective. In September of 2012, Captain Ballas was promoted to the rank of Captain and transferred back to the Detention Bureau as the security captain from the Law Enforcement Bureau. In 2016 Captain Ballas was transferred to the Dennis Maes Judicial Building where she served as the Captain of Judicial Security through December of 2017.
Captain Ballas is currently the captain assigned to Administrative Services. Captain Ballas is a 2001 graduate of Pueblo’s own Colorado State University Pueblo with a Bachelor of Science Degree and a 2005 graduate of the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs with a Master of Criminal Justice Degree.
