Getting Emergency Alerts

TELEPHONE EMERGENCY ALERTS

One of the quickest ways to receive alerts during an emergency that is happening in your area is on your phone. But we can’t alert you if you are not signed up to receive emergency alerts. Don’t wait for an emergency to happen to sign up. Make sure you and your family are registered for alerts today. When you are signed up to receive emergency alerts, you will be notified of an emergency occurring in the city or the county. Officials can identify affected areas and send messages via your cell phone to alert you of the situation and of any protective actions that need to be taken. WEATHER RADIOS

Another way to receive emergency alerts is via weather radios. Residents and businesses located within the Emergency Preparedness Zones have been provided weather radios from the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office through the CSEPP program. The state-of-the-art weather radios provide alerts for chemical incidents related to the stockpile at the Pueblo Chemical Depot and also will alert residents of any weather-related event in the area. In the event of an emergency, the radio will sound a tone followed by a voice message giving information and instructions on what should be done.
